      Fuji Finepix S9600

Pros: Indoor lowlight photos - overall picture quality

Cons: Some purple fringing when the zoom is fully or nearly fully extended.

Verdict: The Fuji Finepix S9600 bears a very close resemblance to a digital SLR camera. It is aimed at the serious photographer and has a wide range of features. I was impressed by my test results and the Finepix S9600 is well worth considering. It offers good val

      By Dave Stephenson

Review summary: Attractive styling and a long lens will tempt some, but we recommend spending more on a real SLR.

Verdict: The trouble for Fujifilm is that, at $749, the S9600 is less than $200 cheaper than true D-SLRs such as Nikon's D40. The Nikon can't match the 9-megapixel rating of the S9600, with a mere 6-megapixel sensor, but it offers much faster performance and bette
