      Nikon Coolpix P80

Review summary: The Nikon Coolpix P80 is a super zoom digital camera. The 18x zoom lens is one of the longest you will find on the market. This 10 megapixel model is relatively small in size. Considering the more advanced features the camera has, Nikon have done a good j

Pros: Style - controls - length of lens

Cons: Shutter lag times should be faster

Verdict: This is a good, solid addition to the range of super zoom cameras already available. As you would expect it has a selection of manual exposure controls. It is also a relatively compact size.

Review summary: The latest 18x bridge is unfortunately not the best. While the P80 produces image quality that is more or less equivalant to its rivals, it is handicapped by its lack of reactivity.

Pros: - Compact and stabilized 18x zoom, - Quality LCD screen, - Interesting 1 cm macro mode, - Rather fast zoom, - Numerous scene modes

Cons: - Slow autofocus even in good lighting conditions, - Too much smoothing of détails starting at 200 ISO, - No Raw format, - Overall, not a very fast camera, - Average quality video with no optical zoom

      Nikon Coolpix P80

      By Lori Grunin

Review summary: It's neither a bird nor a plane -- it's a superzoom. More specifically, it's the Nikon Coolpix P80 with an 18x zoom lens. It ranks as one of the better superzooms among the handful in its class and its strong points include its excellent handling of colou

Pros: Optically stabilised, wide-angle, long zoom lens; comfortable shooting design; voice annotation; time-lapse mode

Cons: Poor noise handling above ISO 200; no raw support; relatively slow performance

Verdict: It's one of the better 18x megazooms; nevertheless, you should consider the Nikon Coolpix P80's sluggish performance before you commit to it
