Canon PowerShot SD500 Digital ELPH
By Jeff Keller
Review summary: When Canon set out to make an ultra compact, ultra high resolution camera, it wasn't as simple as dropping a new CCD into an existing body. The reason for that is due to the size of the CCD sensor itself: on the SD200, SD300, and the new SD400, the ...
Pros: Excellent photo quality (though see issues below) ; Compact and very stylish metal body ; Blazing performance ; First rate movie and continuous shooting modes ; Powerful flash for a compact camera ; Unique My Colors feature ; LCD visible in low light ...
Cons: Some corner softness and purple fringing ; Redeye is a problem ; Cheap plastic door over memory card / battery compartment ; While an improvement over the other SD series cameras, battery life could be better ; Can't swap memory cards while camera is ...
Verdict: Canon gives you a 32MB Secure Digital (SD) memory card along with the SD500, which sounds nice at first until you see how many photos that can hold. Since you probably don't know, I'll tell you: it holds nine at the highest quality setting. So you ...

Top Point-and-Shoot Cameras: Canon PowerShot SD500 Digital Elph
By Tom Mainelli
Review summary: This easy-to-use camera is small enough to take everywhere, but its images aren't quite as nice as we'd like.
Verdict: Pick up the SD500, and it just feels substantial. It weighs only 6 ounces, but the metal body appears sturdy and well made. Its dimensions are petite: 3.37-inches wide by 2.24-inches tall by 1.04 inches deep. Canon helps keep things small by using an ...

Canon Digital Ixus 700
By Spencer Dalziel
Review summary: We've seen mixed results from Canon's Ixus range, but this latest addition has to be the best point-and-shoot compact model yet - and we don't just mean from Canon. While keen hobbyists may baulk at the lack of manual exposure options, everyone else ...
Verdict: It may be too automated for budding photographers but for everyone else, the Ixus 700, competitively priced and easy to use, is the compact camera to buy.

Canon Digital IXUS 700
By Ross Brunton (09/01/2006)
- Pros: Sturdy, Sleek , Compact, Versatile Menu, Great Photos, Battery Life
- Cons: Poor Performace in Low Light, No Handshake Reductions
I bought this camera for a holiday and to upgrade from my Olympus Camedia 3MP camera. This is 7.1MP and was worth the buy. The picture quality is fantastic, not so good in poor light, you get some grains but generally excellent with steady hands or a tripod.
The video function is excellent too, amazing quality and sound. The cameras menu system is very simple and yet powerful and easy to use, not...

- Pros: compact, ease of use, quality of stills and video
- Cons: standard issue sd card not big enough I bought a 1gb card, much better
I have just come back from a European holiday and the Ixus was brilliant,I took easily 100 shots per day and some video and every picture is spot on,the images were of the quality where you can crop sections, enlarge them and still very acceptable, didn't run out of battery once,so that isn't a problem either.

Canon Digital IXUS 700

- Pros: Compact, battery life
- Cons: Old memory card doesnt fit in the new camera
Love the Canon cameras and this one is brilliant. Easy to use and features are great. Shutter speed is also very fast. Im glad I purchased this model and not the iXUS 750 as I have heard that the battery life on that model is lower due to the larger screen. And, the larger screen is more prone to damaging the camera.

- Pros: Image quality

This camera has to be the best ultra compact camera on the market. It has exceptional image quality, a whole lot of features and still sits snuggly into a small pocket. This is the best camera i have ever owned and I could not ask for much more
