      Canon EOS 1000D

      By Stuff.tv

Review summary: Canon's splashed into shallow end of the DSLR pool again with an entry-level model based on the 450D. Will it win gold or need water wings?

Verdict: What you still have is awesome image quality, with excellent tonal range, realistic colours and very low noise levels at high ISO

      Canon EOS 1000D

      By Matt Golowczynski

Review summary: The 10-megapixel EOS 1000D is Canon's smallest, lightest and cheapest entry-level DSLR to date.

Pros: Consistent image quality, good noise control, size and weight, good kit lens, effective lens IS

Cons: Ergonomics and finish, value for money, menu infrastructure, small buffer, some WB issues

Verdict: Given the tried and tested formula from which the 1000D stems, it's no surprise that it appears on the whole as a refined DSLR. The crux is, of course, image quality, and the 1000D delivers, with low noise levels, impressive detail capture and the ...

      Canon 1000D review

      By Dennis Hissink

Review summary: Canon 1000D digital SLR camera review : With the introduction of the new EOS 1000D, Canon move into the 'thousand' series for the first time, that is: with digital SLR cameras. If you can still picture the analogue EOS SLR cameras, you will probably ...

      Canon EOS 1000D review

      By Dennis Hissink

Review summary: One of the first things you notice is how much the Canon EOS 1000D resembles its bigger brother, the EOS 450D. The 450D is slightly bigger but that's all. If however, you take a closer look and place both models side by side, you will notice some more ...

      REVIEW-CANON EOS 1000D camera

Review summary: This 10 megapixel camera is the first SLR from Canon to break (just) the $1000 barrier. The construction uses a lot of obvious plastic, including for the lens mount. It is small and light and is well suited to small hands. Ergonomics are just so-so. ...

Pros: The picture quality is excellent, especially when a better quality Canon lens is fitted. Dynamic range is wide and the Auto Lighting Optimiser is useful in tricky situations, such as backlighting. Auto focus and exposure are very fast and accurate. ...

Cons: The "live view" is ridiculous. The user guide recommends manual focussing in live view and yet Canon claim that they include the function because compact camera owners trading up to a DSLR demand it. But when they find that by holding the camera at ...

Verdict: Stupid gimmicks apart, this is a good way to buy into a system than will grow with the user's expertise. And when the time comes to move up to a better body the Canon lenses will still be in the bag to use on the new camera. And as decent lenses ...
