      Canon EOS 1D Mark III

Review summary: While the shell of the EOS 1D Mark III still feels as though you could hammer tent pegs in with it, every other feature from the Mark II model seems to have been considered for enhancement, relocation or removal. The results are fantastic

Pros: Thoughtfully updated, Jaw-dropping picture quality, Fantastically versatile

      Cons: Very expensive

Verdict: The price will be a turn-off for many, but this is a precision tool for demanding users. Sports, wildlife and press photographers have never had it so good

      Canon EOS 1D Mark III

Review summary: It's a camera that's been designed with today's photographer in mind - from a smaller, weight-shaving battery to a three-inch LCD, complete with Live View

Pros: Thoughtfully updated, Jaw-dropping picture quality, Fantastically versatile

      Cons: Very expensive

Verdict: As mentioned, the return to focus point control can now be assigned to the multi-controller. This can make vertical shots a little fiddlier than on the Mark II as there's only one of these and it's a stretch to reach it with your thumb

Review summary: Canon's EOS 1D Mark III offers a luxurious cocktail of high-resolution, extremely low noise, blazingly fast burst shooting, abundant customisation, and a build quality and ergonomic design among the best you'll find in today's camera market.

Pros: Extremely fast, 10-megapixel continuous shooting ; Very low noise ; Highly customisable ; Well-designed body with weather sealing ; 3-inch LCD ; Abundant optional accessories

Cons: Heavy ; May be a bit too large for people with small hands

Verdict: If you can afford the cost of the 1D Mark III, and are a Canon shooter who doesn't absolutely need the higher resolution of the 16.6MP 1Ds Mark II, then this camera is a no-brainer. Nikon shooters who are reading this might even begin to second-guess ...
