      Canon EOS 30D

Review summary: Canon's 8.2-Megapixel (3504x2336 pixels) EOS 30D is pitched as a semi-pro digital SLR (DSLR), but it's more than capable for most photographer's need. A mild evolution of the EOS 20D, the camera sports a subtly redesigned body ...

Pros: Gorgeous image quality ; solid build ; tons of features ; fast start-up

Cons: Not a very exciting upgrade over the 20D

Verdict: Evolutionary rather than revolutionary, but probably the best midrange D-SLR

      REVIEW - CANON EOS30D DSLR

Review summary: The Canon EOS 30D is an upgrade from the 20D digital single lens reflex. Little has changed -- the 8 megapixel sensor is the same and image processing uses the same Digic engine. The most significant improvement has been the addition of spot metering. ...

Cons: Controls are not intuitive. By default the camera uses an absurd auto focussing system that is almost guaranteed to produce out-of-focus images. To reset the auto focus area to the same centre spot as the exposure meter it is necessary to consult the ...

Verdict: The Canon EOS 30D with the better lens is competition for the Nikon D200 which has a 10 megapixel sensor. Choosing between the two would be difficult and a great pleasure! Anyone lucky (rich) enough to be shopping in this market gets to choose between ...

      Canon EOS-30D

      By Gordon Laing

Review summary: Canon's 8.2Mp EOS-30D is a follow-up to the 20D â€" in essence, it's a 20D Mark 2, sporting few improvements. But the 20D was an excellent camera, of course.

Verdict: The EOS-30D offers pro handling and excellent quality. It's a great step-up from entry-level digital SLRs, but only a modest upgrade from the EOS-20D.
