      Canon PowerShot SD870 IS

      By Emily Raymond

Review summary: The Canon PowerShot SD870 IS made its debut just a few months after its predecessor was released. It has 8 megapixels and optical image stabilization, like the SD850. However, it has a larger 3-inch LCD screen and shorter but wider 3.8x zoom lens. It ...

Pros: - Excellent colors - Great movies - Excellent White Balance accuracy - 3-inch LCD with wide view - Trendy look - 28mm wide lens - Quick face detection

Cons: - High noise above ISO 80 - Poor dynamic range above ISO 80 - Lots of over-sharpening - 1.3 fps Burst mode - Weak flash - Expensive

Verdict: The Canon PowerShot SD870 IS offers a few practical upgrades from its predecessor. The 3-inch screen makes it easier to read menus and check pictures. It has a wider 28mm lens that can fit larger portraits. The SD870 also boasts a new face detection ...

      Canon PowerShot SD870 IS

      By Emily Raymond

Review summary: The Canon PowerShot SD870 IS was released just a few short months after the SD850 IS. The new model comes with the same 8-megapixel resolution and optical image stabilization, but is updated with a bigger LCD, wider lens, and more advanced face ...

Verdict: In terms of image quality, the Canon SD870 IS continues the trend of other PowerShot SD-series cameras. It has great color and white balance accuracy at the expense of high noise levels and poor dynamic range. Unfortunately, the 8-megapixel camera ...

Canon PowerShot SD870 IS Digital Camera Review

      By Emily Raymond

Review summary: The Canon PowerShot SD870 IS was released just a few short months after the SD850 IS. The new model comes with the same 8-megapixel resolution and optical image stabilization, but is updated with a bigger LCD, wider lens, and more advanced face ...

Verdict: The Canon PowerShot SD870 IS is a great little camera with its neat and trim 3.65 x 2.32 x 1.02-inch body. It isn't as skinny as the Casio S880, which is only 0.68 inches thick. The SD870 performs better than most cameras but costs more than most ...

      Canon Powershot SD870 IS Review

      By Mary Margaret

Review summary: I became almost uncontrollably depressed watching Maria Sharapova's early exit from the US Open, but one thing relieved my anguish: they continued to run her Canon PowerShot commercial throughout the rest of the tournament.

Pros: 3 inch LCD Screen ; Easy access to important functions ; Battery life ; Ease of shooting, reviewing, deleting retaking ; Various Auto settings for numerous shooting conditions

Cons: Power button easy to press instead of shutter ; No optical viewfinder (if you really like them) ; Battery/media compartment door mechanism not impressive

Verdict: For example, I mentioned the importance of being able to easily review pictures I have taken (or others have taken of me) so I can decide whether more need to be taken. With the SD870, the play button stands alone on the back of the camera for easy ...
