Canon PowerShot S60 5 Megapixels And Abundant Controls
By George Schaub
Review summary: Whether you prefer to shoot on automatic or set your own picture effects using aperture and shutter speed, consider the compact Canon PowerShot S60 a very good traveling companion. With 5 megapixels and a Canon 3.6x zoom lens (15x using digital zoom), ...
Verdict: The "native" ISO of the S60 is ISO 50, which might seem slow but actually delivers the best quality image files. You can go up as high as ISO 400 if you don't want to use flash indoors, but keeping it at the native rated speed will reap the best ...

- Pros: Compact, just about any combination of automatic&manual control, adequate sized LCD, loaded with features
- Cons: Movies limited to 30 sec. at best resolution, LCD doesn't swivel out, no live histogram
After doing a lot of research, I bought the S60 because it got good reviews, Canon cameras got good reviews across the board, it uses CompactFlash which is the cheapest flash memory&has the largest capacity cards, it has full manual control, it has a 1.8" LCD screen (1.5 is too small), it is compact, it has a 3X optical zoom, it has 5M megapixels, and the lens is protected when it's off. It's eas...

Very nicely built camera. This is my second digital camera after buying Fuji 3800. After a long research I decided to buy this camera, and it was a good decision.

- Pros: Does everything except stir your coffee and it's easy
- Cons: absolutely none
If your buying digital for the first time and you need a compelling reason to put your expensive and reliable 35mm away forever (well almost) and you want a"near professional grade" grade camera ...this S-60 is the answer. It will embrace you with easy to understand directions and references and instructions and produces superior picture quality. No more trips to buy film for me !!!!

- Pros: The picture quality is terrific. The built in wide angle lense is also nice.
- Cons: The LCD screen does not flip out.
I took this camera on vacation immediately after purchasing the camera. I had read the reviews, however, had not yet experienced the picture quality. I took about 200 pics and had them developed when I returned. I received numerous comments about how great the picture quality was...then when I told them it was from a digital camera they were even more impressed.

Canon PowerShot S60
By pvt640 (04/07/2005)
- Pros: Wide angle, RAW format, light weighted for that set of features.
- Cons: Looks like the CF is working slow and it takes much time to recharge the flash if you shoot one after another shot.
I've been using it for more than three months already and I made more than 2000 shots. I shoot often in a discoteque shooting different kinds of performances without much of light and the shots come out perfect. I use RAW format. No other cons issues that I've seen in other reviews like poor quality, dead spot on the LCD, bad cover of the battery and CF card slot were noticed by me.
