Pros: Bright LCD; Operation panel; Simple

Verdict: You might not need ten megapixels, but it's nice to have, and this is still a brilliantly user-friendly, responsive camera.

      REVIEW-CASIO EXILIM Z1000 CAMERA

Review summary: This is a 10 megapixel compact point and shoot camera. It has a lens zoom range of 38-114mm, film equivalent. The ISO sensitivity range is 50 to 3200, but that is more theoretical than actual.

Pros: When everything works well the images are clean and smooth, nicely detailed and accurately coloured.

Cons: The preview image on the LCD screen is invisible in normal daylight. Even reviewing the shots is almost impossible outdoors.

Verdict: This camera is in the fashion accessory category. It is an indoors camera, although the flash is not very powerful.

      By Richard Baguley

Review summary: It seems like a simple sell: a 10.1-megapixel digital camera now available for less than $300. However, the Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 proves digital cameras are about more than just resolution. The images it captures are lackluster at best
