Pros: Easy to use ; excellent help and newbie features ; solid low-light focus even without AF illuminator
Cons: Sluggish flash recycle ; LCD is difficult to see in bright light and doesn't gain up in low light ; no sound with movies
Verdict: A novice-friendly snapshot camera that should satisfy most point-and-shoot needs.

Review summary: Casio's QV-R62 has plenty of features in a petite package. This 6-megapixel camera, only slightly thicker than a deck of cards, fits easily in your pocket; in fact, several times it was so unnoticeable in my pocket that I thought it had slipped out.

Pros: Colours and contrast are first rate, Exposure system seems very good, Rich, punchy shots in good lighting
Cons: Lack of direct control over lens aperture, Fringing can be a problem, Zooming range isn't brilliant
Verdict: For example, you could set up a mode for mono photography at ISO 400 and infinity focus, and another for ISO 64 shooting with daylight white balance. With a little effort you can personalise this camera to suit your own style of photography
