Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd Super Zoom
Review summary: Super zoom digital cameras are becoming increasingly popular among consumers because they are smaller and more affordable than digital SLR cameras. Fujifilm's latest super zoom digital camera offers up to 18x optical zoom and an 8 megapixel sensor. ...
Verdict: The 18x optical zoom is definitely impressive, but if you've ever experienced that type of long-range zoom, you know firsthand the importance of an image stabilization system. Fujifilm has included a sensor-shift image stabilization system in the ...

FujiFilm FinePix S8000fd
Review summary: With an 18x zoom, you should be forgiving in other areas. The S8000fd will first and foremost satisfy the photographer looking for a versatile camera instead of extreme image quality.
Pros: - 18x stabilized zoom and good overall construction, - Fast face detection system, - 1 cm macro mode, - Electronic viewfinder relatively nice to use (for once!), - Very satisfactory video mode
Cons: - Significant smoothing of images beyond 400 ISO, - Lack of sharpness on the edges of images, - No RAW mode, - Autonomy could be better (4 alkaline batteries), - No exposure bar when aiming

Review: The Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd
Review summary: Remember that moment in music or swimming lessons when you achieved some big-kid milestone that bumped you up to "intermediate" level? Suddenly, the yellow-belt phase of life had begun and you could start replacing frustrations and daydreams with a ...
Verdict: In terms of image quality, I'm usually a big fan of Fuji, loving their colors overall and most every shot I've ever fired from their F-series line (the advanced-beginner point-and-shoots), but I found that pictures from this camera go strangely soft ...

Fuji FinePix S8000fd
Review summary: The Fuji FinePix S8000fd ($399) is one of three "mega zoom" cameras introduced in 2007 (the others being the Olympus SP-560 and the Panasonic DMC-FZ18). While most ultra zooms were hanging around 12X, these three cameras jumped all the way to 18X. The ...
Pros: Very good photo quality (though see issues below) ; Whopping 18X zoom with a great 27 - 486 mm range ; Sensor-shift image stabilization ; Well built for its price ; Sharp 2.5" LCD has good outdoor/low light visibility ; Full manual controls ; ...
Cons: Photos are on the soft side, especially fine details ; moderate purple fringing ; Disappointing continuous shooting modes ; Poorly implemented manual focus feature ; No RAW support, unlike the competition ; Real" image stabilization not available in ...
Verdict: Like so many cameras these days, Fuji built memory into the S8000fd instead of bundling a memory card. Unlike most of those other cameras, Fuji actually gives you a decent amount of memory -- 58MB to be exact. You'll still want to buy a memory card, ...

Fuji Finepix S8000fd Review
Review summary: Among the few digital cameras featuring a 18X optical zoom lens, the Fuji Finepix S8000fd holds its own well while being the most limited such camera in terms of features. Not many people can overlook the less-than-perfect LCD coverage - its 97% but ...
Pros: Wide-angle lens with 18X optical zoom, Nicely saturated colors, Below average noise until ISO 800, Reliable exposure, Accurate focusing, Excellent macro focusing, Ultra-high-speed drive modes at low resolutions
Cons: 97% Frame coverage on EVF and LCD, Miniscule EVF, Poor white-balance under artificial light, Slight blurring of image corners near wide-angle, Slow telephoto focusing, Slow playback mode, Above average purple fringing
