      Nikon Coolpix L20 review

      By Tim Moynihan

Review summary: Nikon's Coolpix L20 represents one of the best options we've seen in a growing category of cameras: very affordable, easy-to-use point-and-shoots with surprisingly stellar image quality and a bit of fashion sense.

Verdict: All in all, the Nikon Coolpix L20 is a very affordable camera that performed very well in our image tests. For value, ease of use, and eye-catching looks, it's one of the best bargain point-and-shoots we've seen so far in 2009. Don't expect the manual ...

Review summary: The smart-looking, 10-megapixel Coolpix L20 is a budget compact camera that's easy to handle and straightforward to use. All but very beginners will find the omission of ISO adjustment options baffling, but, otherwise, it's a simple, sturdy, practical ...

Pros: Glossy, smart finish ; 240 shots from a single pair of alkalines ; no-fuss operation ideal for beginners

Cons: No manual ISO adjustment ; cheap-feeling controls ; not that inexpensive in today's market

Verdict: While the budget Nikon Coolpix L20 looks and feels like a nice camera, it's let down by poor-quality controls and a grotty user interface. It's an average camera competing with a whole host of above-average rivals in the same price bracket
