      Nikon Coolpix P1

      By Brad Soo

Review summary: The Nikon Coolpix P1, along with the 5 megapixel Coolpix P2, are Nikon's first WiFi digital cameras. Besides being WiFi enabled, the Nikon Coolpix P1 also features an 8 megapixel sensor, 3.5x optical zoom, a 2.5 inch LCD and aperture control.

Pros: WiFi enabled (Only 3 other cameras have this) ; Affordable ; Large 2.5 inch LCD ; Slightly longer than average 3.5x zoom lens ; Many scene modes and some controls ; Aperture control with bracketing feature ; Shutter speed/aperture combinations ; VGA ...

Cons: Average battery life; High power consumption with WiFi on and extra battery pack is expensive ; Weak flash ; LCD lacks resolution and visibility in low-light ; No full manual mode and control over shutter speed ; Buffer clearing not fast ; Some soft ...

Verdict: The Nikon Coolpix P1 has most of the stuff that makes a WiFi digital camera great: 8 megapixels, a 2.5 inch LCD, a slightly longer than average 3.5x optical zoom lens, lots of scene modes and aperture control.

      Nikon Coolpix P1

Review summary: The P1 looks very much like any Nikon compact

Pros: Great image quality, Top photo features, Accessible wireless technology, Lively, realistic colours and good detail

Cons: Some noise can occur, Setting up Wi-Fi devices can be a pain

Verdict: Exposure options include aperture priority, a full range of metering modes (including one that follows the spot AF around the screen) and a host of scene settings. These also tweak sharpness, saturation and colour and are well worth exploring, ...

      Nikon CoolPix P1

Review summary: The 8-megapixel Coolpix P1 and 5-megapixel P2 are the world's first builtin Wi-Fi-enabled (802.11b/g-compatible) digital cameras and allow consumers to immediately transmit images wirelessly directly to a computer or to any PictBridge-enabled printer ...

Verdict: Bottom line - Nikon's Coolpix P1 is a nice ultra-compact digicam that produces good quality 8-megapixel images and VGA sized movies; and lets not forget its 802.11 b/g certified. I liked just about every feature on this model, and was only annoyed ...
