Compare Prices : Nikon D200 -

In general, a superb piece of kit.Compairing the build quality of the D200 with the D100 is like comparing a Rolls to a Mini. Photo quality again is excellent, most of the general controls are available without having to access the menu's. The only thing that seems lacking is to change mode from colour to black and white, you have to use the menu to select. As I use both on the same shoot it would be nice to have it quckly accessabe. The ridge on the on off switch is far to small (the D100 being a little better), when wearing gloves it makes it difficult to turn on and off. The selector rocker switch is not positive enough, when reviewing taken photographs on the LCD screen it is very easy to skip a photo (with gloves on would prove to be a real headache).
Other than the odd couple of things mentioned I would recommend this camera to anyone and sure they would be very pleased with their purchase. To do the photographs justice in RAW, Adobe CS2 is a must as the Nikon Capture software leaves a lot to be desired and is not worth the purchase price.
Note: If you have Adobe CS you will have to download the RAW plugin for the D200 from the Adobe web site which is free. The D200 Nef files are different from the D100. As I have never owned a D50 or D70 I do not know what RAW format they use but if you have trouble reading the photos in CS I suggest you download the D200 plugin as it may solve the problem.
