Nikon D40
Review summary: For the beginning SLR user, you can't beat the D40 for price/performance. It's solidly built, has a comfortable feel and offers image quality vastly superior to point and shoot cameras with their small sensors. And don't let the “small” MP number ...
Pros: 6.1MP DX-format CMOS sensor, Bright 2.5” 230,000 dot LCD, Fast 2.5fps continuous shooting speed
Verdict: The Nikon D40 Digital SLR is Nikon's smallest and least expensive...

November 2008
Nikon D40
By David Fearon
Review summary: The aggressive price and Nikon design know-how mean there's still a place for the D40
Verdict: It's logical, easy to use and if you get used to it, upgrading to a more expensive Nikon body in the future won't give you any surprises. The lens attaches to a standard Nikon F mount. That means if you buy more lenses, you can upgrade to a different ...

Nikon D40: 2008 Review
By Alan Sircom
Review summary: With today's economic climate, money is tight. Yesteryear's Nikon D40 comes in cheap, but how does it stand up by today's standards?
Pros: The price ; Deceptively solid build ; Good image quality at high ISO ; Potentially good picture quality ; That price again
Cons: Small LCD ; Dated design means no live view ; Soft images as standard
Verdict: Despite the low cost, the Nikon D40 does not seem built down to a price. It feels nicely robust in the hand; light and plastic, but solid polycarbonate. The 2.5" rear LCD is bright and doesn't seem small unless you compare it to later designs. The ...

Nikon D40

- Pros: Light, relatively compact, well built, great image quality, easy use
- Cons: Doesn't fit a jacket pocket - but I still kept my old compact!
This was my first Digital SLR, having been a very happy user of a Sony compact for several years. I considered bridge cameras but decided to bite the bullet and buy a SLR for about the same money. Although I have only had the camera for a couple of weeks, I have no regrets and have already been able to take pictures that the compact would never have handled. The great thing for me is the speed of ...

- Pros: Fantastic value - whole package brillliant
- Cons: None for the money - not worth a mention - very satisfied
Ordered yesterday via Kelkoo - arrived spot on time, perfectly packed, today despite there being a great shortage on this model. Why buy a bridge camera when you can have the whole 'buisness' for the same cash? Many thanks Nikon & Kelkooo!!!
