      Nikon D5000 DSLR camera

      By Doug Harman

      Review summary: Cracker HD snapper?

Pros: Image quality, movie quality, tilt turn and swivel LCD (for some shots), handling, ease of use, price

Cons: Small viewfinder, LCD resolution/colour rendition, size (for market), bottom hinged LCD easily impeded on a tripod

Verdict: Nikon's D5000 sits above the D60 but below the D90 in the Nikon DSLR range, with a feature set culled from the latter, but priced towards the former. It has a 12.3MP CMOS sensor and a new tilt, turn, swivel 2.7-inch LCD and HD movie capability and it ...

      Nikon D5000

      By Steve Morgenstern

Review summary: Introduction Nikon brought us the first video-enabled SLR with the D90 last August, and has now followed up with what is essentially a more consumer-oriented, lower-priced sibling in the D5000, at $850 with lens. The video mode remains unchanged, ...

Verdict: It's certainly a fun camera to shoot with. The size strikes a nice balance, compact enough to carry easily but substantial enough to feel good in your hands. What the articulated LCD screen lacks in size (at 2.7 inches) and resolution (an ordinary 230 ...

      D5000

      By Steve Morgenstern

Review summary: The Nikon D5000 is one of a handful of sub-$1000 video SLRs. Overall we found the Canon XSi did a better job shooting video, with higher definition and smoother video motion, but the Nikon was superior for still photography.

Verdict: It's certainly a fun camera to shoot with. The size strikes a nice balance, compact enough to carry easily but substantial enough to feel good in your hands. What the articulated LCD screen lacks in size (at 2.7 inches) and resolution (an ordinary 230 ...

      Nikon D5000 Review

      By Mike Perlman

Review summary: InfoSync reviews the most highly anticipated DSLR of the year. Read the full Nikon D5000 review here, complete with image samples from Coney Island.

Pros: Great overall image quality. Excellent Interface. Oodles 'o manual controls

Cons: Mediocre HD video performance. Limited Shutter Speed. Heavy

Verdict: Any premonitions that the Nikon D5000 would be a lightweight DSLR were immediately vanquished the second we grabbed a hold of this hulking tank. The D5000 does not necessarily occupy a large amount of space, but it's certainly not as travel-friendly ...
