Nikon D60 Digital Camera - First Shots - The Imaging Resource!

Review summary: Nikon Inc. has announced its new D60 digital SLR, a refreshed version of the company's popular D40x model. As with its predecessor, the Nikon D60 has a sensor resolution of 10.2 megapixels and offers ISO sensitivity ranging from 100 to 1600, with the ...

Verdict: Externally, the Nikon D60's biggest difference from its predecessor is the inclusion of a sensor just below the viewfinder that automatically disables the LCD display when you bring the camera to your eye. Helpfully, the LCD information display now ...

      Nikon D60

      By Steve Morgenstern

Review summary: If you've ever seen the Nikon D40 (introduced in November 2006) or the Nikon D40x (March 2007), a glance at the D60 may remind you of a Talking Heads song - the size, shape, and overall design are same as it ever was, same as it ever was. Under the ...

Pros: - Compact size (for portability) - Responsiveness - Dust removal system

Cons: - Compact size (for those with big hands) - Plastic construction - Incompatiblity with some Nikon lenses - Limited autofocus system - No depth-of-field preview

Verdict: The Nikon D60 sits in an odd niche in the market. It's not the least expensive well appointed digital SLR you can buy, and for just a few dollars more you can buy a substantially superior camera. The VR lens is a big step up from previous inexpensive ...

      Nikon D60 DSLR camera review

      By Chris Coleman

Review summary: Nikon's new entry-level DSLR is compact, functional, and bundled with a VR lens, but do the D60's pictures stack up to Nikon's pedigree?

Pros: Bundled with new VR lens. Fast operation. Good overall image quality, especially for the price. Great body.

Cons: Severe diffraction in some cases. Narrow ISO range.

      Nikon D60

      By Gavin Stoker

Review summary: Nikon's entry-level D40x has been reborn as the D60, which boasts a 10-megapixel maximum resolution and a dust-prevention system. This feature was sorely missing on the otherwise excellent D40x and now brings Nikon into line with competitors.

Pros: Compact, lightweight, easy to use, solid build, sharp images, built-in dust prevention, RAW and JPEG capture, 500-image battery life

Cons: Not a revolutionary step on from the D40x, you have to spend extra to get image stabilisation

Verdict: The D60 is fast in operation - ready for the first shot in the time it takes your finger to reach for the shutter button. Allowing users to just point and shoot or access more complex manual controls within the one device means it represents good ...
