By Photocrati Staff
Review summary: Nikon's D70s is a refinement of one of the most successful amateur dSLR's ever produced. While its resolution falls 2-megapixels short of Canon's industry-leading Digital Rebel XT, the D70s offers very good shooting performance and excellent image ...

Nikon D70s
By Jeff Keller
Review summary: The Nikon D70s is an evolutionary -- not revolutionary -- update to the popular D70 digital SLR. Where Canon took their Digital Rebel and changed it dramatically when it became the Rebel XT, Nikon took smaller steps with the D70s. The changes from the ...
Pros: Excellent photo quality ; Very well built, feels solid in your hands ; Full manual controls ; Robust performance ; impressive continuous shooting mode when a fast memory card is used ; fast AF system ; All the expandability you'd expect from a D-SLR ; ...
Cons: Images aren't overly sharp at default settings (normal for D-SLRs) ; Moir can be a problem ; No USB 2.0 High Speed support ; Included software doesn't allow for RAW image manipulation ; that and remote camera control require $100 Nikon Capture ...
Verdict: Unless you buy the lens kit, you won't have a lens either (unless you already have a collection of Nikkor lenses). The D70s, like all Nikon SLRs, has an F mount which is compatible with nearly all Nikkor lenses. If you have some old lenses you may ...

Nikon D70s
By Aaron Okuma (15/07/2007)
- Pros: When the Nikon D70 Works, IT WORKS
- Cons: However, the Nikon D70 is Challenged in Hot, Humid Climates
I use 27 Nikon D70 cameras in my present employment. My environment during the late spring season, during the summer season, and early autumn season, may be in the low 90 (F) degrees with a humidy that ranges from the high 80's to the low 90's. I have had to replace 4 of the 27 cameras because the shutter will stick during this type of climate conditions. My expectations of this cameras...

Nikon D70s
By scott turner (27/03/2007)
- Pros: Well constructed body durable power on battery.
- Cons: Must have basic knoledge of slr photography to get the best results
Although more costly than it,s rivals the D70s is a tuff one.It will with a bit of rain but don,t take to many chances and take a few light knocks from use.The censor is prone to pick up dust as most of it,s competion but keeping it clean helps. In the desert(sandy) conditions allways dust off the body before you change the lense.keep out of direct sun light.Apart from that a tuff cookie all round....

By Peter Crowe (16/08/2005)
- Pros: Fast shooting, great standrad lens, solid feel

What a great camera, I'm a real fan of the Nikon D70. It's fast, comes with a great standard lens and has a real solid feel to the body.
