Olympus E-410 [Mac]

Olympus E-410 digital SLR review
By Gavin Stoker
Review summary: The compact and sturdily constructed Olympus E-410 (an updated version of the year-old E-400) is the baby of the Olympus digital SLR family, a 10Mp entry-level model that like its predecessor is the world's smallest and lightest DSLR on launch.
Verdict: For those not already wedded to a Nikon or Canon dSLR system, the Olympus E-410 appears the very definition of a bargain and an ideal entry point for the first-time dSLR owner.

Olympus EVOLT E-410
By Jeff Keller
Review summary: This is our final review of the Olympus EVOLT E-410. The camera described is a full production model, and product photos have been re-shot if necessary. All sample photos are from the production-level cameras. Thank you very much for your patience.
Pros: Excellent photo quality if you tweak the settings ; Minimal noise until ISO 1600 (unless you turn off the noise filter) ; Very compact body (by D-SLR standards) ; well built for the price ; Live view on LCD allows you to see 100% of the frame, preview ...
Cons: Soft photos at default settings (adjust the noise filter to fix that) ; colors a bit muted as well ; Camera tends to underexpose, sometimes by a lot ; Lack of right hand makes camera difficult to hold (in my opinion) ; Live view feature not as robust ...
Verdict: If you get either of the lens kits then you'll be one of the first to use the new 14-42 and 50-140 mm lenses. These aren't quite as fancy as some of Olympus' other lenses (they're not weather sealed) but they're more than adequate for most people. You ...

Olympus E-410

- Pros: Great quality photos and detailed features yet easy to use
- Cons: None
This is my first digital SLR and I think it is brilliant. I didn't know anything about cameras but was told by many people this was a great one to start with as it is simple to use but still has developed and complex features for when I get a bit better. A great buy and no regrets!! :-)

Olympus E-410
By Anonymous (17/01/2008)
- Pros: Light, easy to use, good image quality, XD and Compact Flash
- Cons: Live View is very clunky, small grip, No SD slot
I have a Canon 400D and Olympus E410 and overall prefer the Olympus. Camera and lenses are much lighter and easier to carry if you are out walking for the day. Image quality is as good, if not better than the Canon and for me I find the images sharper (once the noise reduction and noise filter have been set to off). Cooler colours than with Canon, but more true to life, except sunsets which are mo...

Olympus E-410
By Gary Heyworth (10/01/2008)
- Pros: Ease of use
- Cons: None, that I can think of!
A great camera for those making the transition to D-SLR from ordinary Digital cameras. Able to just 'point and shoot' if you like, but many more features available to allow the camera to grow with you as you learn how to use it. Also comes with a very helpful DVD.
