      Pros: Ard as nails, good macro mode, shock/freeze/crush proof - perfect for outdoors or the kids

      Cons: Flat underexposed images, highlights bleed, limited sharpness, low battery life

      Review summary: Is this tough enough for the job?

      Pros: Tough, waterproof, freezeproof, dropproof, price, rugged

      Cons: Images were soft, dropping it might not damage the camera but it will damage your floor or foot, xD or microSD only, fiddly buttons on rear

      Verdict: If rugged is your thing, you don't want to print your pictures too large and you can put up with some fiddly controls, this might just be the camera for you

      Olympus Mju Tough 6000

      Pros: Waterproof (3m), shockproof (1.5m), dust-proof, snow-proof, easy to use

      Cons: Exposure wasn't perfect, tap control doesn't let you change scene mode

      Verdict: ThereÂ's not much that we donÂ't like about the Olympus Mju Tough 6000. In fact, we think itÂ's a lovely ruggedised camera that anyone with an adventurous bone in their body should put on their shopping list.
