      Olympus SP-570 UZ

Review summary: With such a zoom, the SP-570UZ is a very versatile camera at ease in family settings, landscapes, macro and photographic outings. The quality of images is there if you can restrain yourself in terms of ISO sensitivity. It's just too bad this bridge ...

Pros: - Impressive and high quality 20x zoom, good macro mode, - Nice images in lower sensitivities, - 13.5 im / s burst mode, - Nice construction, - Possibility to add an external flash

Cons: - Zoom ring isn't too practical, - Image degraded beyond 800 ISO, - No moveable screen, - Shutter speed is only at 1/2000 s, - RAW mode practically unusable (too slow)

      Review: Olympus SP-570UZ

      By John Biggs

Review summary: Reviewing point-and-shoot cameras for you guys, no matter how complex, is like writing about light beer for a wine magazine. What can you say but that it goes down smooth and tastes great? Can you talk about the vat-grown malty flavor? Can you talk ...

      Olympus SP-570 UZ

      By Roger Hibbert

Review summary: Cursed with an ambiguous, alphanumeric moniker, the SP-570UZ (that's one hell of a sexy name there, Olympus) is suffering from an identity crisis. It lies in the nether region between point-and-click and DSLR, all the while suffering from a model ...

Pros: Stunning macro function makes big shots out of the smallest subjects. Versatile controls soothe the enthusiasts while auto presets comfort the n00bs. Excellent manual. Top mounted hotshoe makes swapping external flash options easy.

Cons: Pretend-professional zoom requires two hands. Zoom shots without a tripod can come out blurry. Stubborn clinging to proprietary xD media is irritating: Resistance is futile, Olympus.

Review summary: Take a look at the new Olympus models The megapixel war may be raging onward elsewhere, but the Olympus SP-570UZ is claiming a victory among the competition in the ultra-zoom digital camera market. Its 20x optical zoom lens is the longest on a ...

      Pros: - Retro DSLR look - Great handling - 20x zoom lens - DSLR-like buttons - Lots of in-cam editing - Multi-Firework mode - Fingerprint-less LCD

Cons: - xD compatible up to only 2GB - Can't have audio AND zoom in movies - Zoom ring isn't very sensitive - Slow burst

Verdict: We looked at the Olympus SP-570UZ at the PMA show and here's what we can tell you. It has a very cool retro DSLR look that fooled many eyes and made many people think Olympus may have put out yet another DSLR. Its design is not only classy but ...
