      Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX33

      By Ben Pitt

      Review summary: The gorgeous FX33 exudes class, with an ultra-compact aluminium body and elegant controls. Performance is excellent, capturing a photo every 1.5 seconds in normal use and 1.6 frames per second in continuous mode

      Verdict: Nice camera, what about the pics? A stylish ultra-compact, but images are average.

      Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX33: Review

      By Alan Sircom

      Review summary: Slim wide angle compact may be the bargain of 2008

      Pros: Ease of use ; Vivid, vibrant pictures ; Excellent lens ; Superb value for money ;

      Cons: High ISO better, but still not great ; Could do with more creative control ; Can soften low-contrast pictures ;

      Verdict: A 'replacement' is coming though. Panasonic recently announced a DMC-FX35, essentially a 10.1 megapixels and a 25mm equivalent wide-angle lens (plus a few extra features like 720p video capture and the Mk IV version of the Venus processing engine). ...

      By WDC Team

      Review summary: Not wishing to mess with a successful formula it differs from the FX-30 in just two areas...

      Pros: Great design and build quality, Useful features, Leica lens ;

      Cons: Not that much ;

      Verdict: Marginally better than our best compact of 2007, making it very good indeed.

      Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX33

      By Gordon Laing

      Review summary: The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX33 is a slim 8.1 Megapixel compact with a 3.6x optically stabilised lens. Announced in July 2007, it comes just seven months after its predecessor the Lumix FX30

      Pros: 28mm wide angle and optical stabilisation ; Slim body and shorter than many rivals too ; Very good Intelligent Auto mode ; Quick and easy access to settings ; 28mm wide angle and optical stabilisation ; Slim body and shorter than many rivals too ; ...

      Cons: Best-used at 200 ISO or below ; Little or no manual control ; No control over noise reduction ; Bigger 3in screen of FX55 may be tempting ; Best-used at 200 ISO or below ; Little or no manual control ; No control over noise reduction ; Bigger 3in ...

      Verdict: Ultimately the Panasonic Lumix FX33 may not offer a great deal more than its predecessor, but it brings genuine benefits to what was already an excellent compact. So you get the small, well-built body of the FX30 with its 28mm wide angle coverage, ...
