      Panasonic DMC FX55

Review summary: The Panasonic DMC FX55 is an 8 megapixel digital camera with a 3.6x wide angle zoom lens. One of the strong points of the camera is its ease of use. Although it has a few extra features compared to a standard point and shoot camera you should still ...

Pros: Settings for 6 x 4 prints and panoramic shots - image stabilisation - LCD screen display - ease of use

Cons: Struggled with lower light shots - noise creeps in

Verdict: Easy to use, takes a decent picture and slips into a pocket. This camera also has a wide angle lens and a few extra features when compared to other simpler, point and shoot digital cameras. Well worth a look.

      Panasonic DMC-FX55

Review summary: With the integration if a 3 inch LCD, the FX55 can hold its head up proudly to the Canon Ixus 860 IS. Versatile, with nice image quality, and well constructed, the Lumix FX55 is a very attractive compact at the end of 2007.

Cons: On/off button is too easy to switch, no video zooming

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX55 8.1Mp compact camera

      By Tracey Capen

Review summary: Although very expensive for a compact camera - and too large for many pockets - the Canon PowerShot SD950 IS is extremely well made and performs admirably.

Verdict: The Panasonic DMC-FX55 has much to like: It's easy to use and well put together. For the price, though, we'd like a little better image quality.

      By Tracey Capen

Review summary: Sheathed in a brushed-silver metal shell, Panasonic's $350, 8.1-megapixel Lumix DMC-FX55 is as elegant-looking as it is functional. Though not quite small enough to slide comfortably into a shirt pocket, this point-and-shoot digital camera combines a ...

Cons: In-camera help text not very helpful

Verdict: The Panasonic DMC-FX55 has much to like: It's easy to use and well put together. For the price, though, we'd like a little better image quality
