      Panasonic Lumix FX8

      By Brad Soo

Review summary: The Panasonic Lumix FX8 is an ultra-compact camera with a very useful feature not found on most competition: Optical image stabilization. Other than that, the Panasonic Lumix FX8 also includes a 2.5 inch LCD, full-fledged movie mode and excellent ...

Pros: Ultra-compact and stylish ; Great battery life ; Optical image stabilization ; Large LCD ; Extremely fast ; Unlimited continuous shooting ; Excellent movie mode ; User friendly ; Noise levels slightly lower than on FX9 ; Good photo quality

Cons: No manual controls ; Low resolution LCD ; Low FPS rate for "infinite shooting ; Flimsy battery/card cover ; Red-eye ; Some soft photos ; No movie zoom

Verdict: The Panasonic Lumix FX8 is a great camera: 5 megapixels, a 2.5 inch LCD, great battery life and best of all, optical image stabilization. The 2.5 inch LCD resolution is still the same as on the FX7 but is a lot brighter. OIS is not something you'll ...

      Panasonic Lumix DMCFX8 digital camera

      By T3 Online

Review summary: Never mind the quality, feel the width.

Pros: Quick; Compact; Good screen; Easy to use; User-friendly controls

      Cons: Fat; Poor zoom

Verdict: Despite its diet-dodging frame, it's nippy. While not quite as fast as certain Canon and Pentax models in starting up, it still races off the mark. The screen is pretty good too - it's big and clear, although edges do appear a bit jagged. And there's ...

Review summary: The FX8 does not appear to be a major upgrade from the FX7. However, it offers a much-awaited battery life improvement, among other user-friendly features.

Pros: Improved battery life performance ; movie playback with audio ; optical image stabilizer

Cons: No optical viewfinder ; 16MB Secure Digital (SD) card

    Pocket Snapper

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX8 By Stephen Cragg (08/01/2006)
    • Pros: Quick start-up - long battery life - easy menu (when u need it)
    • Cons: Supplied 128 SD card is inadequate - 1 GB gives you 400 shots

Really simple to use camera with fantastic batery life - and the easiest of menu systems. Even has on-screen editing - so you can trim or delete individual snaps.
Appears robust and with the supplied slip-in leather pouch, makes for a very handy pocket camera that you can carry anywhere, and slip out to use at any time.
I found the 'no-flash' function brilliant when taking images inside a ... Read Full Review »
