Panasonic Lumiz FZ18 Review
By Cybernium
Review summary: The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 performs quite well for having such an extreme optical zoom. While it is normal that ultra-zooms compromise one image quality, this one compromise very little to pack an 18X zoom along an 8 megapixels sensor. The major ...
Pros: Extreme wide-angle 18X optical zoom, Good color accuracy, Low optical distortion, Consistent sharpness from corner to corner, Effective stabilization
Cons: Image details destroyed from ISO 400 onwards, Useless at high ISO, Poor dynamic range, Softness near telephoto end of zoom, Low resolution EVF

Lumix DMC-FZ18K
By Andrew Mager
Review summary: The least expensive camera in our megazoom roundup, the $350 Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18K offers an 18X optical zoom, a 28mm wide-angle lens, and a host of manual controls for a very reasonable price. An amateur photographer who hasn't used many advanced ...
Pros: Excellent 18x optical zoom Leica lens Burst mode returns clear photos
Cons: Zoom disabled in video mode Battery life is disappointing
Verdict: Besides its manual controls and its wide-angle lens, the Lumix FZ18K has other goodies for more-advanced photographers and image editors; for instance, images can be shot in RAW format--but keep in mind that the image size will be about six times ...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18
By Steve Hayward (24/11/2008)
- Pros: exceeded my expectations
- Cons: none so far
I am a keen photographer of many years standing, and have owned many single lens reflex cameras using a multiplicity of lenses ,Canon Pentax, and culminating in an Nikon.Of late Ihave found that carrying Camera +Lenses + Tripod a bit heavy going for me. I am nearly 83 years old. So having searched the market I found what I had been looking for a Panasonic Z18 digital camera. It has many features of ...

- Pros: Excellent viewfinder, quick and easy to use, light, comfortable
- Cons: None so far
With regret I have used my Agfa Super Sillette for the last time. I dreaded moving over to the digital age but have been agreeably surprised at how easy it has been and overjoyed at the results. The instruction booklet was very clear and logical. It has been extremely easy to use on Intelligent Automatic and the zoom lens is great. There seems to be less need to use flash than with a convention...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18
By Rachel Stelmach (21/03/2008)
- Pros: Light, fast, superzoom, accessories
- Cons: Haven't found any yet
I use this camera one handed - left at that - and it's light enough to allow me to do that. I'm very grateful for the image stabilization as well. I've bought the additional lenses so now have super macro, mega wide, mega-mega telephoto and it's all very fantastic. I've been using a compact digital camera before this and was constantly frustrated by the 3x zoom. This is a perfe...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18
By Anonymous (24/02/2008)
- Pros: Amazing lens capabilities, great photos
- Cons: Plastic body is rather...plasticy
Reasonably small camera with a whopping 18 x zoom, that starts with a really useful 28mm. Has manual & fully auto settings. Didn't think I'd use Panasonic's Intelligent Auto (does everything for you), but I do all the time - as it ensures great photos. I'll start to play with the manual settings soon - I promise.
