      Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 (black) review

      Pros: Wide-angle, long zoom lens ; nice set of shooting features

      Cons: Camera's JPEG processing choices can produce suboptimal results ; no zoom in movie capture ; sluggish LCD/EVF update

      Verdict: A decent but not great camera, the megazoom Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 still manages to outdo its few competitors.

      Panasonic DMC-FZ18

      Review summary: Despite several deficiencies (no zoom in video mode or rotating screen and relative slowness), the FZ18 is still one of the most attractive 18x bridges.

      Pros: - Zoom 18x with optical stabilization, - 1 cm macro mode, - Quality of images in low sensitivity (100 ISO), - Overall a reactive camera, - RAW and RAW + JPEG modes

      Cons: - No zoom when recording video, - No rotating LCD screen, - Mediocre video quality, - Imprecise viewfinder, - Slow to startup and recording
