      Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50

      By Gagan Gupta

Review summary: Puts the 'Super' in Superzoom

Pros: Excellent zoom control, Excellent manual control, Very responsive, Edge-to-edge sharpness, Great colors, Tilt-n'-swivel screen, Tight build quality, Cheap street price

Cons: Noise reduction affects images at higher ISOs, Bigger screen would be more appreciated

Verdict: Since the camera is not exactly new in the market, its street price has dropped down close to Rs. 20,000, which is an absolutely brilliant deal. With the amount of features and options, the FZ50 is an excellent enthusiast-level camera - perfect for ...

Review summary: Panasonic's new Lumix DMC FZ50, which replaces the FZ30, is an excellent superzoom camera that carries a host of improvements. First of all, it's now got 10 megapixels. Second, it can shoot at a greater range of ISO ratingsup to 1,600!although my test ...

Pros: Excellent feature set. Zoom and focus ring. Includes a hot shoe. Has optical image stabilization. Supports RAW format.

Cons: Big. Pricey. Smallish LCD. Needs better burst mode. No TIFF format support.

Verdict: An excellent camera for those who want D-SLR-like quality and performance. It can also shoot video in both standard and 16:9 format at 30 fps.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 Digital Camera Review

Review summary: The FZ50 Panasonic is versatile, easy to use, and produces incredibly sharp photographs but is built like a tank and picking up and aiming with it is a lot like looking down the barrel of a gun. It is powered with Mega Optical Image stabilizer and ...

      Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50

Review summary: It's got the dream quartet of a 10MP sensor, 12x zoom, image stabiliser and pro controls. But does Panasonic's FZ50 live up to its peerless CV?

Pros: Intuitive controls. Image stabilisation. Huge 12x zoom

Cons: Images poor at high ISO settings

      By Dan Havlik

Review summary: Panasonic's Lumix FZ50 takes the company into new territory in terms of resolution, matching the resolution of many popular SLRs, and exceeding their zoom abilities with one very long 12x, 35-420mm Leica zoom. Though the Panasonic FZ50 is as big as an ...

Pros: Generous, 12x optical zoom lens, Very quiet, easy-to-adjust manual zoom ring, Effective fly-by-wire manual focus ring, Excellent MEGA O.I.S. feature steadies long-range and low-light shots, Serious, hefty design suggests professional digital SLR, ...

Cons: Heavy chroma noise when shooting above ISO 400, Shots at ISO 400 look okay, but distinctly soft printed at 8x10 ; shots at ISO 800 are only good for 4x6 prints at best, Early shutter penalty jams up camera if you snap pictures too quickly, Shot-to ...

Verdict: Panasonic's all-in-one superzoom cameras have garnered very positive reviews from critics and consumers alike over the years, and with good reason. The winning combination of the Lumix line's Leica-branded optical zoom lenses of up to 12x, and ...
