      Review summary: This camera's powerful zoom lens and features are great for casual shooters looking for versatility and oomph.

      Pros: 12x optical zoom; can zoom in video mode; great HD video options

      Cons: Mode dial is finicky; lack of manual settings

      Verdict: A zoom range like that isn't very useful if image stabilization doesn't come with it, and the Lumix DMC-ZS3 has top-notch optical stabilization. The camera is downright shake-proof, providing crystal-clear images even when I shook it around at full zoom
