      Pentax K100D Super Review

      By JerryJ

Review summary: Last year when Pentax introduced the K100D, they advertised it as "an affordable, full featured, user friendly digital SLR." This year when the Pentax K100D Super was announced, they advertised it as "an affordable, full featured, user friendly ...

Pros: Compatible with EVERY Pentax lens ; Excellent image quality ; Compact, light body with great ergonomics ; Built-in shake reduction ; Built-in dust removal ; Good in-camera JPEGs and RAW format is available

Cons: Image buffer is too small … only 5 JPEG or 3 RAW images ; Top flash sync shutter speed of 1/180th is too slow for fill flash in bright daylight

Verdict: use a 6 megapixel image sensor compared to other DSLRs using 10 megapixel sensors, the low price of $519 and impressive feature set make it an amazing value. Let's see what Pentax's newest entry level DSLR brings to the photographer's tool kit

      Pentax K100D Super SLR

Review summary: The Pentax-developed Shake Reduction (SR) system in the K100D Super effectively offers a two- to three-stop advantage for sharp, blur-free images even under difficult shooting conditions. The SR mechanism is designed to minimize camera shake by ...

Pentax K100D Super, a review of Pentax K100D Super

      By Dan Havlik

Review summary: The feature-rich Pentax K100D Super is a surprisingly strong purchase for budget-conscious DSLR users.

Cons: A less advanced but no less welcome feature of the K100D Super is its old-school battery system, which is powered by four easy-to-find AA batteries (including rechargables) that fit into the camera's handgrip. Although these batteries add ...

Pentax K100D Digital SLR Camera Review

      By Alex Burack

Review summary: A culmination of point-and-shoot accessibility and prosumer features characterize the Pentax K100D. The camera is the company's first DSLR released under its resurrected moniker, derived from its K1000 35mm SLR - arguably its most recognized ...

Verdict: With just over 6 million pixels coating its CCD, the Pentax K100D has less to work with than many competing models. Its use of the resolution, however, is fairly efficient. Resulting images contain an ample amount of detail with limited sharpening ...

      REVIEW-PENTAX K100D SUPER DSLR

      By terry

Review summary: This is the highly regarded Pentax K100D with two additional features - in-camera vibration reduction and automatic dust removal from the sensor light path. This is a 6 megapixel single lens reflex camera with a robust body and good ergonomics. Image ...

Pros: The value-for-money of this camera makes the competition look either greedy or inefficient. There is nothing cut-down or under-done about the Pentax.

Cons: This has the loudest mirror/shutter slap of any camera. This suggests that there might be some hidden parts where costs have been saved at the expense of ultimate refinement. Also, for some reason, Pentax set the default saturation and contrast ...

Verdict: This is a case of a good camera getting better. The vibration reduction and dust removal are worthwhile improvements to the K100D and well worth the little extra money. No compact or super-zoom pseudo SLR comes within cooee of the quality in this ...
