      Pentax K200D

      By Arthur Bleich

Review summary: Catch This Shooting Star Within the weatherproof body of the new, 10.2-megapixel Pentax K200D beats the transplanted heart of the K10D-a sophisticated, semipro camera that garnered a Mac|Life Editor's Choice last year (5 out of 5 stars, Jul/07). ...

Pros: Excellent build. Superb images. Built-in shake reduction. Unique dust removal system. Very low power consumption

Cons: FlashMmust be raised manually. Continuous shooting at 2.8 frames per second is limited to four photos until buffer clears

Verdict: The Pentax K200D can be used with confidence right out of the box by novice and advanced photographers alike. And it won't need to be replaced for a long time-the highest compliment a DSLR can earn.

      Award: Highly Recommended!

Review summary: Pick the K200D up for the first time, attach the supplied 18-55mm kit lens, and this DSLR impresses from the off. Despite the budget pricing nothing about the K200D build quality feels compromised, with the weight and heft transcending its entry-level ...

Verdict: At first glance the Pentax K200D simply looks like an incremental upgrade of the K100D Super, with relatively few additions on offer apart from the 10 megapixel resolution (up from 6 megapixels) and a couple of new buttons. Thankfully Pentax have also ...

      Pentax K200D Review

      By nhatgnat

Review summary: The last Pentax SLR I touched was the K1000 35mm film camera I had in high school. The K1000 was a well-built, fully manual camera - a great learning tool. Along those same lines, the K200D is a high-quality, entry-level to serious amateur digital SLR ...

Pros: Inexpensive, Dust and weather resistant, Shake Reduction image stabilization built into camera body, Surprisingly good image quality at ISO 1600, Uses convenient AA batteries, Allows simultaneous recording of RAW and JPEG format images, Dust Reduction ...

Cons: Plasticky body, Auto focus lock does not work in continuous AF mode, Loud auto focus motor, Might be uncomfortable in big hands, Exposure compensation is only plus/minus two stops, No dedicated ISO button

      Pentax K200D

Review summary: Its not the cheapest DSLR on the market, but the K200D produces great-looking pictures

Pros: Extensive feature set ; Good pictures ; Robust build

Cons: Uses AA batteries ; Dodgy Kit lens

Verdict: And in manual mode you are, of course, required to work out your own shutter speed and aperture combinations, as you are with any camera. Here, though, if you press the 'green' button on top of the camera, it will set both automatically, saving you a ...

      Pentax K200D

      By Renaud Labracherie

Review summary: The Pentax K200D is a fine accomplishment: ergonomics are quite excellent (except menus), satisfactory image quality, pleasant optical viewfinder, stabilization, etc. Despite several weaknesses, the K200D is one of the best entry level reflexes.

Pros: - Integrated stabilization system, - Robust and moisture proof construction, - Image quality (18-55 mm kit is more than appropriate), - Priority sensitivity modes, - Rather large optical viewfinder

Cons: - Weak autofocus in poorly lit situations, - Menus are still complex and daunting, - No AF assistance lamp (flash can be very aggressive), - Burst mode limited to 3 i/s and 4 shots, - Inefficient anti-dust system
