      Pentax K2000 review

      By Kathleen Cullen

Review summary: The Pentax K2000 is a beginner-friendly DSLR digital camera with excellent image quality, but its autofocus speed and controls are drawbacks.

Verdict: Overall, despite the Pentax K2000's stellar image quality and what the company has done to make this model appealing and easy to use, it is difficult to recommend the K2000 wholeheartedly due to its focusing shortcomings. If you have an arsenal of ...

      Pentax K2000

      By Arthur Bleich

Review summary: Stepping up from a point-and-shoot to a DSLR can seem as daunting as trading in your minivan for an 18-wheeler. To ease the transition, Pentax has placed all the controls on its new 10.2MP K2000 to the right of the camera's bright, 2.7-inch LCD screen ...

      Pentax K-m

      By Leonard Goh

Review summary: pentax k-m review: We like the K-m and the image quality it offers, but having to fumble over the inconsistent metering and white balance can be an issue for users not familiar with manual exposure controls.

Pros: Very decent picture quality ; Useful and fun digital filter effects ; In-camera RAW processing ; Speedy performance

Cons: Rear command dial too near to optical viewfinder ; Noisy kit lens ; Inconsistent metering ; Inaccurate automatic white balance when shooting indoors

Pentax K2000 (with 18-55mm lens and AF200FG flash)

Pros: Very fast autofocus ; relatively nice viewfinder ; wireless flash and in-body image stabilization

Cons: No Live View mode ; poor default JPEG image settings

Verdict: Speedy performance lifts the Pentax K2000 above the cheap-dSLR masses, but bad default settings make it an iffy choice for newbies.
