      Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T200

      By Staff writers

Review summary: So many features and so much quality, in such a tiny body. Astounding

Verdict: It's hard to know where to start, but perhaps we should get the bad things – for there are but few – out of the way. The LCD round the back is quite smeary, dull and not particularly hi-res. The T200 is also, perhaps, a little expensive. Maybe

      REVIEW-SONY CYBERSHOT DSC-T200

Review summary: : The T200 is a compact camera with an 8 megapixel sensor and a 5x Zeiss zoom -- 35-175mm film equivalent. The optics are folded within the body and do not protrud. The only external controls are power switch (power is also turned on and off with the ...

Pros: : The touch screen control function is logical. All camera settings - there are not that many - are easily accessible. Used with care picture quality is acceptable, if a bit hit and miss. No doubt the intended customer is a person who will leave the ...

Cons: : The price seems a little high. Perhaps this is a consequence of the included gimmicks, such as face recognition and Smile Shutter, or perhaps the touch screen. Auto white balance in Program mode is poor and left to its own devices it will select ...

Verdict: : The Sony T200 is a perplexing camera. Those who buy it as a fashion accessory with the latest in gimmickry will probably love it. For less money you can buy the Sony DSCW80 (RRP $350) which is a better camera. Mind you, it looks like a camera, so it ...

      Sony DSC-T200

Verdict: Shooting in low light doesn't have to result in blurry, grainy photos. Sony's Super Steady Shot® optical image stabilization counters camera shake and stabilizes images so you can easily shoot with longer exposure times. Armed with high light ...

      Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T200

      By Jeff Keller

Review summary: The Cyber-shot DSC-T200 ($399) is the flagship camera in Sony's ultra-compact lineup. Featuring an 8 Megapixel sensor, 5X optical zoom, optical image stabilization, and gargantuan 3.5" touchscreen LCD display, the T200 is "bigger and better" than just ...

Pros: 5X zoom lens in a compact, stylish metal body ; Optical image stabilization ; Good image quality (by ultra-compact standards) ; Enormous 3.5" touchscreen LCD display ; great outdoor visibility (at bright setting) ; Snappy focusing speeds, though ...

Cons: Some blown highlights, blurry corners, and vignetting in photos ; moderate barrel distortion ; Noise reduction smudges details, mottles sky at low ISOs ; unimpressive high ISO image quality ; Redeye a big problem (but at least you can fix it) ; Design ...

Verdict: While not best-in-class, the 250 shots per charge number for the DSC-T200 is amazing, considering that it has a power-hungry 3.5" LCD display on the back. The T200 is about 17% above the group average in terms of battery life

  1. A Product that I wish had been developed earlier.

    Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T200 By Tony Murphy (31/10/2007)
    • Pros: Small size. Carity, size and brightness of LCD screen.
    • Cons: Large screen eats battery power but not a real problem.

I have recently bought a digital SLR Olympus E500. A super camera but you look like a member of the paparattzi when carrying it. I also have a Sony digital camcorder. Once again although it is palm-sized, you can not put it into a pocket. You do advertise your status as a tourist when carrying it.
Then I bought my wife a Sony Cybershot T200.
On image quality it is as good as the E500 SLR and the v... Read Full Review »
