Nikon D70

Pros: Excellent handling
Cons: Nikon after sales service

The D70 would be a great camera were it not for Nikon's could-not-care-less attitude when something goes wrong. Despite taking great care of my D70, the auto focus failed to operate after 17 months use. Try complaining - there is no one you can talk to and no one you can write to. All calls are routed to Ireland and the operators there are not allowed to put you through to anyone with any authority to lodge a complaint (Nikon policy).

Nikon's repair service is also a lot of fun. The camera is received in their warehouse in Kingston and takes FIVE days before it is inspected by a technician and from then on it's a lottery as to when the item will be returned in working order.

My advice is to buy a Canon 350D or 20D.
