I upgraded from an Ixus 40 and so I was already familiar with its use, menus.
It is a nice upgrade and the shake control appears to be reasonably good in reducing the number of slightly blurred images I get.
The massive LCD display gets covered in paw prints but that isn't a major issue. Its size prevents an optical viewfinder though which for some may be a problem but I can't say I ever use it so not a problem - even in bright sunlight there is sufficient visibility via the LCD.
The size of this camera, and its LCD size make a camera case imperative. Also, this seems to be more fragile than by IXUS 40 which may be due to the plastic parts in the case make-up that were metal in older models.
The battery life is excellent when you consider the LCD size it needs to power up! Copy batteries are only £5 on eBay and likewise with cloned Canon cases from China (which are superb value/quality but choose your seller carefully)
Overall: A nice camera and no regrets about buying
